Housing Programs at River Region

River Region has two programs designed to help homeless persons in need of transitional or permanent housing.

Andy’s Place

Andy’s Place offers permanent supportive housing for those who have been homeless due to substance abuse, mental illness or HIV/AIDS. Residents at Andy’s Place receive life skills training, which increases their opportunities to become productive, earn income, and be contributing members of the community. These services are funded in part by the City of Jacksonville Public Service Grant.

Support Housing Alternatives Program (SHAP)

SHAP provides housing assistance for chronically homeless individuals. Each housing unit is leased to one individual. Rental assistance provided is tenant-based, allowing the client to choose his or her own housing. The goal of the program is to assist participants in obtaining and remaining in permanent housing. Eligible clients must have a history of substance abuse and/or mental illness.
